Rotary Air Compressor Assisted Cutting of Carbon Steel Plate

Rotary Air Compressor Assisted Cutting of Carbon Steel Plate

During the laser cutting process, choosing a suitable rotary air compressor to assist cutting is crucial to ensuring cutting quality and improving cutting efficiency.

Cutting Speed

For customers who pursue processing efficiency but do not have high requirements for processing sections, using air as auxiliary gas is a cost-effective and wise choice. As the laser power increases, the faster the air cuts carbon steel, the higher the efficiency.

Cutting Process

The common cutting thickness range is 1mm to 25mm. As the laser power increases, rotary air compressor assisted cutting is not limited to processing medium and thin plates of 6-12mm. Using TSC 30kW laser, the air cutting process can process carbon steel plates with a thickness of up to 30mm.
30 kW lasers can basically meet the processing needs of conventional thicknesses in the sheet metal market, thereby efficiently replacing traditional processes and opening up more application areas.

Performance of Rotary Air Compressors

The gas flow and pressure of rotary air compressors directly affect the cutting effect. Higher gas flow and pressure can improve cutting speed and quality, especially when cutting thicker materials.
When oxygen is used as an auxiliary gas, the cutting speed and quality can be improved, which is suitable for cutting thicker carbon steel plates. Using nitrogen can reduce oxidation, which is suitable for applications with high requirements for cutting edge quality.

Cutting Quality

In the past, the biggest disadvantage of rotary air compressor assisted was that serious slag would be generated on the cut surface, but with the increase of laser power, the cutting quality has been significantly improved.
When cutting 20mm and 25mm carbon steel plates with compressed air from an ordinary air compressor, the degree of slag on the lower surface of the workpiece was significantly reduced.
